Gyeonggi-do Launches 'Kkalkkeumi Project' for Low-Income Households... Targeting 2,150 Locations
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is launching the 'Kkalkkeumi' project to support cleaning and disinfection services aimed at improving the living environments of low-income households in the province.
This project consists of a task force made up of 104 self-support workers and company employees from 27 cities and counties within the province, providing free cleaning and disinfection services to basic livelihood security recipients, low-income elderly living alone, and households with disabilities.
This year's project will run until September, targeting a total of 2,150 locations, including 1,800 low-income households and 350 senior centers.
The province receives recommendations for low-income households through the respective city and county community centers, and for senior centers through the Gyeonggi Metropolitan Senior Center Support Center.
So far, the province has supported 1,815 vulnerable households in 2016, including ▲1,981 vulnerable households and 119 daycare centers in 2017 ▲1,500 vulnerable households, 500 senior centers, and 100 daycare centers in 2018 ▲1,900 vulnerable households and 600 senior centers in 2019.

Kim Tae-hoon, Director of the Welfare Project Division of the province, stated, "We will actively promote this project to improve the living environments of low-income households and to support the independence of self-support workers and company employees through employment and entrepreneurship."
