'Gongsucheo Establishment Preparation Team' Launched... Over 20 Officials Dispatched from Related Ministries

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] The Preparatory Committee for the establishment of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office (Gongsoocheo) under the Prime Minister's Office was launched on the 10th and officially began its activities.
Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun held the appointment ceremony for the committee head and the plaque unveiling ceremony at the Government Seoul Office in the morning, attended by Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae, Minister of the Interior and Safety Jin Young, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Noh Hyung-wook, and Senior Presidential Secretary for Civil Affairs Kim Jo-won.
Prime Minister Chung first presented the appointment letter to Nam Ki-myung, who was appointed as the head of the Preparatory Committee on the 6th, and urged him to thoroughly prepare to ensure the Gongsoocheo's launch in July this year proceeds without any setbacks.
In response, Head Nam stated, "We will prepare without any setbacks to meet the public's demand to eradicate privileges and corruption in the public service through the establishment of Gongsoocheo and to create a just and fair country."
Following the appointment ceremony, Prime Minister Chung attended the plaque unveiling ceremony in front of the office prepared on the 10th floor of the Government Seoul Office to announce the launch of the Preparatory Committee.
Prime Minister Chung visited the Preparatory Committee's office to encourage the staff, saying, "The Preparatory Committee will have to accomplish a lot in a short period, so it will be difficult, but I hope you will carry out your duties with a sense of mission."
The Preparatory Committee is composed of about 20 members dispatched from related ministries such as the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and the Ministry of Government Legislation, organized into divisions for organization, legislation, and administration.
The Preparatory Committee will focus on preparing the organization, personnel, and budget necessary for the Gongsoocheo's launch in about five months, as well as on the revision of follow-up laws such as Gongsoocheo regulations and presidential decrees, and securing office space.
