Court Orders Disclosure of Admission Committee List for Cho Kuk's Daughter's Entry to Busan National University Medical School
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] A court has ruled that the list of admissions committee members must be disclosed when Cho Min, the daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, applied to the Busan National University School of Medicine (Medical Graduate School).
According to the Judicial Examination Preparation Group (Sajunmo), the Busan District Court Administrative Division 1 (Chief Judge Minsoo Park) ruled partially in favor of the plaintiff on the 6th in a lawsuit filed by Sajunmo Chairman Min-sik Kwon against Busan National University to cancel the refusal of information disclosure. The court stated, "Even if the list of admissions committee members for the already concluded entrance exam is disclosed, it would not cause any problems for the university," adding, "Disclosing the information is expected to prevent unnecessary misunderstandings and controversies related to the entrance exam."
However, the court ruled that Cho's personal statement should not be disclosed. The court explained, "Since it includes personal growth processes and social experiences, disclosing such information could interfere with the author's personal and mental inner life or prevent them from enjoying a free private life."

Earlier, Chairman Kwon requested Busan National University in August last year to disclose the personal statement submitted by Cho during the medical graduate school entrance exam and the list of admissions committee members. However, Busan National University rejected the request, citing concerns about privacy invasion and potential disruption to the fair execution of duties. Chairman Kwon then filed a lawsuit.
