Candidate Lee Yong-bin stated, "It is no exaggeration to say that Gwangsan's future depends on the development of the Gwangju Songjeong Station area," adding, "We will prepare a development plan that includes the Kumho Tire Gwangju factory site in the regional economic hub-type KTX Investment Leading District development project to embody the next 100 years of Gwangsan's future."
He continued, "The development of the Gwangju Songjeong Station area is limited in scope, even though the construction of the Gwangju Songjeong Station Complex Transfer Center was canceled and the KTX Investment Leading District development project is scheduled to begin in 2022 as an alternative," explaining, "The ongoing urban environment development and maintenance projects nearby are also small-scale and fail to meet the expectations of residents who want to revitalize the old downtown area."
He also emphasized, "The Kumho Tire Gwangju factory, located within 500 meters of the Gwangju Songjeong Station area, spans 420,000㎡ (approximately 130,000 pyeong), which can accommodate all the facilities and infrastructure that a station area should have," and added, "If developed into a future-oriented emotional city and complex smart city by connecting with nearby Sochon Industrial Complex, Seonun District, Hwangryonggang area, and the former military airport site, the next 100 years of Gwangsan's future will be guaranteed."
Candidate Lee urged the prompt promotion of public discussion among citizens based on the premise of relocating the Kumho Tire Gwangju factory within Gwangsan-gu and maintaining employment.
He said, "Last year, the 'Development Plan Review Application' for the Gwangju factory site submitted by Kumho Tire to Gwangju City was rejected because it did not properly include the relocation site or relocation plan," adding, "A development plan reflecting the relocation of the factory within Gwangsan-gu and 100% employment maintenance must be promptly established and discussed with Gwangju City."

Therefore, even now, we must initiate public discussion to embody the next 100 years of Gwangsan's future," and concluded, "We will prepare a development plan for the Gwangju Songjeong Station area that reflects the will of the residents of Gwangsan-gu."
