Dongdaemun-gu to Suspend Culture and Sports Classes from the 10th to 29th... Public Libraries, Seoul Hanbang Promotion Center, and Other Facilities Closed
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) will temporarily suspend cultural and sports classes operated by the district from the 10th to the 29th to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.
The suspended programs include about 1,000 classes held at 14 neighborhood community centers, Dongdaemun-gu Cultural Center, Imun Sports and Culture Center, Dongdaemun-gu Gymnasium, Lifelong Learning Center, Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center, Women's Welfare Center, Dongdaemun Disabled Welfare Center, and Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center.
In particular, the Dongdaemun-gu Cultural Center will close its 3rd-floor reference room along with the suspension of classes, and 27 district-run libraries will also be closed. The Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center will close starting from the 11th. Two senior classes currently in operation have been suspended, and other senior classes that were on break have postponed their reopening.
However, the Dongdaemun Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, local children's centers, and youth reading rooms will operate normally, and some programs at the Jangan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center will also continue.
Fees for paid classes will be carried over, and refunds are also available.
The district is monitoring the spread within the community and is considering extending the suspension period depending on the situation.
Before suspending facility operations, hand sanitizers and preventive action guidelines were provided, the interiors were disinfected, and temperature checks were conducted for users.
To prevent confusion among students and residents using the facilities, individual text messages were sent in advance regarding the suspension of multi-use facilities, and notices were posted on facility bulletin boards. Notices were also posted on the district office website.
For detailed inquiries about program suspensions and facility closures, please contact the respective facilities or departments.
