As confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus have occurred in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do areas, residents' anxiety is increasing, and the demand for masks is growing exponentially, but it is difficult to purchase them in pharmacies and other markets.
Accordingly, Haenam-gun decided to provide quarantine masks to all residents and began distributing 8,900 masks (including children's masks) on the 4th to daycare centers, kindergartens, local tourist sites, senior citizens' associations, and welfare facilities, and is distributing masks sequentially.
On the 6th, 30,000 adult masks were secured and supply began, and 5,000 hand sanitizers will be delivered by the 25th and distributed immediately. Mask supply is being prioritized for vulnerable groups such as children and seniors aged 65 and over.
The distribution of masks to all residents was instructed by Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan at the executive meeting on the 3rd, and is being promoted to proactively respond to the spread of the infectious disease and ensure residents' safety.
The county purchased 130,000 masks and 5,000 hand sanitizers with disaster management funds and plans to distribute them to residents through towns, townships, and departments, guiding residents to wear them when going out.
Haenam-gun has expanded and operated the quarantine countermeasures team, which has been operating since the 22nd of last month, into the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters led by Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan since the 2nd.
In addition, the quarantine countermeasures team has been expanded to six teams including all 130 employees of the public health center, maintaining a 24-hour emergency system for infectious disease surveillance activities by each team.
