Hwasun-gun, All-Out Effort for Proactive COVID-19 Response
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 7th that it is closely monitoring the local spread situation as new coronavirus cases have been continuously reported in neighboring cities and counties, and is making every effort to respond proactively.
The county has decided to temporarily suspend the operation of multi-use facilities to block the inflow of the new coronavirus into the region.
Preventive measures are also being strengthened, such as distributing preventive supplies like hand sanitizers and masks, and disinfecting public transportation facilities.
Operations of leisure welfare spaces such as Nadri Senior Welfare Center and three senior cafeterias providing lunch to elderly at risk of food insecurity will also be suspended from this day until the 14th.
In addition, due to the suspension of the senior cafeterias used by an average of 270 people daily, meals and side dishes will be individually packaged and distributed to elderly at risk of food insecurity.
The Hwasun-gun Comprehensive Cultural Center swimming pool will also be temporarily closed from this day until the 20th. This measure was taken because it was judged that wearing masks is difficult in the swimming pool, which is used by about 300 people, and there is a high possibility of transmission through saliva, etc.
During the closure period, additional disinfection and cleaning of the swimming pool will be carried out as follow-up measures to maintain hygiene.
Earlier, the county decided to suspend the operation of programs at the Hwasun-eup Resident Autonomy Center from night classes on the 5th until the 14th.
The county plans to decide on the resumption of operations for multi-use facilities, public programs, and various events that have been suspended, considering the spread of the new coronavirus.
Along with this, the county is focusing administrative power on proactive responses such as strengthening disinfection and sterilization and distributing preventive supplies.
Since the 6th, disinfection of public transportation facilities has begun and preventive supplies have been stocked.
Disinfectants and sprayers were distributed to disinfect the interiors and exteriors of county buses and garages, and 400 hand sanitizers and masks (for drivers) were distributed and stocked on 57 operating county buses.
For taxis (136 vehicles), sprayers and disinfectants necessary for disinfecting the vehicle interiors, masks, and hand sanitizers were distributed, and from the 8th, hand sanitizers will also be placed at 40 bus stops.
Preventive measures for natural recreation forests operated by the county are also underway.
Users who cancel reservations at Baegasan and Hancheon Natural Recreation Forests will not be charged cancellation fees.
It should be noted that if users cancel reservations directly on the ‘Sopnadle e’ website, cancellation fees will be charged; therefore, reservations must be canceled after contacting Baegasan and Hancheon Natural Recreation Forests to receive a refund without penalty.
The county formed a dedicated team in the recreation forest department and has been conducting response training internally from the 1st until this day. Approximately 500 masks and hand sanitizers have been placed in multi-use facilities such as natural recreation forests, healing forest centers, and wood culture experience centers.
Wearing masks is mandatory for workers, and active promotional activities are being conducted to encourage visitors to practice personal hygiene rules.
