KB Securities Opens Non-Face-to-Face Account Opening Service on 'OpenTrade'
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] KB Securities announced on the 7th that it has launched a non-face-to-face account opening service on the crowdfunding platform OpenTrade. This comes just over a month after the two companies signed a strategic business partnership (MOU) in December last year.
With the opening of KB Securities' OpenTrade non-face-to-face account opening service, customers can now open KB Securities accounts on the OpenTrade website and proceed more easily and quickly with the deposit of unlisted stocks. Both companies plan to continue various collaborations utilizing fintech technology to popularize investment in startups and unlisted companies.
OpenTrade, launched in 2012 as the first company to introduce investment-type crowdfunding in Korea, aims to be a 'one-stop platform' that discovers promising startups and nurtures them into the next unicorns.
To date, a total of 87 companies have been funded through OpenTrade, with total funding amounting to 12.6 billion KRW and approximately 60,000 individual investors participating. Influencer marketing companies such as 'YellowStory (currently Revu Corporation)', which received funding through OpenTrade, have recorded relatively high returns.
President Park Jung-rim stated, "We have launched the OpenTrade non-face-to-face account opening service to expand the base of the crowdfunding market and enhance investment convenience, thereby meeting the financial needs of customers in the digital era." He added, "Going forward, we plan to actively support the activation of crowdfunding that not only provides new investment opportunities to customers but also serves as a positive function for early-stage companies with creative items to raise funds."
Meanwhile, as part of its OPEN-API based digital channel expansion strategy, KB Securities is conducting various collaborations to build an open ecosystem with fintech companies, including launching non-face-to-face discretionary investment services with robo-advisor firms such as December and Quarterback, and opening fund care services on the comprehensive asset management app 'BANGQ'.
