[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) is recruiting additional students for the 'Lifelong Education Center for Adults with Developmental Disabilities' to support lifelong learning and independence for adults with developmental disabilities.
A total of 7 people will be recruited. Applicants must be residents of Gangbuk-gu, aged 18 or older, and registered with intellectual disability or autism on their welfare card. However, those aged 18 or older who have not graduated from high school are excluded.
The application period is from the 17th to the 21st of this month. Applicants should bring the application form, a resident registration certificate issued within the last 3 months, 3 ID photos, health insurance payment confirmation, and welfare card, and visit the Lifelong Education Center (6th floor, 388 Dobong-ro, Gangbuk-gu). The application form can be downloaded from the Lifelong Education Center cafe (http://cafe.daum.net/gangbukedu1) or filled out at the center during visit submission.
The education period is 5 years, and the tuition fee is 270,000 KRW per month. The center offers essential courses such as ▲communication guidance ▲daily living training ▲basic learning education ▲social adaptation training ▲health management education ▲vocational transition education ▲positive behavior support, as well as elective courses including physical education, art, and music activities.
The center, which opened last September, has a total enrollment capacity of 30 students, supported by 10 teachers qualified as special education teachers, rehabilitation therapists, and social workers.
Mayor Park Gyeom-su of Gangbuk-gu said, “Through the Lifelong Education Center, adults with developmental disabilities will be able to improve their social adaptability and enhance their living skills,” adding, “We will do our best to operate the center so that adults with developmental disabilities are not discriminated against in learning.”
