Patient No. 17 of Novel Coronavirus Traveled from Seoul to Daegu by KTX During Lunar New Year Holiday

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] It has been confirmed that the 17th confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection, residing in Guri-si, Gyeonggi-do, traveled to Daegu by KTX during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Daegu City is enforcing self-quarantine for confirmed contacts and conducting disinfection at the places visited along the patient's travel route.
Daegu City announced on the 6th that it received notification from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that the 17th patient visited Daegu on January 24-25. According to the city, the patient took the KTX from Seoul Station on January 24 and arrived at Dongdaegu Station around 2:24 PM, then took a taxi to his parents' home in Suseong-gu.
After spending the night at his parents' home, he visited his in-laws' house in Buk-gu by family car on the 25th, and from there took a taxi to Dongdaegu Station, returning to Seoul on the SRT at 9:26 PM.
The Guri-si authorities in Gyeonggi-do, where the patient resides, reported that during his stay in Daegu, he only visited one gas station while traveling from his parents' home to his in-laws' and did not visit any other places or have contact with anyone outside his family.
Daegu City has placed five family members confirmed to have had contact with the 17th patient under self-quarantine. Additionally, on January 27, the city notified the Yeonje-gu Public Health Center in Busan to check on the condition of the in-laws' family, who all moved to Busan.
The city stated, "The family of the 17th patient, who is under quarantine in Daegu, has shown no abnormal symptoms so far, but additional epidemiological investigations are underway as a precaution."
The city is also identifying personal information of two taxi drivers who transported the patient and one gas station attendant.
The 17th patient, who attended a seminar in Singapore from January 18 to 24, was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus and has been isolated at Myongji Hospital in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Daegu City and the public health centers of its eight districts are operating screening clinics and emergency quarantine task forces. Nationally designated inpatient treatment beds have been established at Daegu Medical Center and Kyungpook National University Hospital.
