Yongsan-gu, 'All-Out' Measures for Prolonged COVID-19 Situation
Operating 1 Screening Clinic and 6 Thermal Cameras... Strengthening Publicity for Foreigners, Vulnerable Groups, and Multi-use Facilities... Postponing Youth Overseas Training Programs and Senior Job Projects... Establishing and Implementing Local Economic Revitalization Measures
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Chang-hyun) is making every effort to address the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
As of the 5th, there are 0 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the area, 4 individuals in self-quarantine due to contact with patients, and 9 people under active monitoring as notified by quarantine stations.
The district first contacts self-quarantined and actively monitored individuals twice daily to check compliance with guidelines such as ▲living alone in a separate space ▲avoiding contact such as conversations with family members or cohabitants ▲using dedicated items (personal towels, utensils, mobile phones, etc.).
Additionally, at the screening clinic (air tent) set up in front of the public health center, suspected patients are being consulted, examined, and epidemiological investigations are ongoing. The Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (☎2199-8370~6) also continues to provide telephone consultations.
As of the 5th, the number of medical consultations and phone consultations are 35 and 946, respectively.
Disinfection efforts are being conducted comprehensively at the district office building, district facilities, related organizations, and shantytowns. Emergency disinfection supplies (masks, hand sanitizers, hand soaps) are stocked at public facilities such as community service centers for residents’ use. When welfare planners from the visiting community service center or visiting nurses visit sites, both they and the clients carry masks to avoid inconvenience.
Six thermal imaging cameras have been installed at the district office, youth training center, Kkum Namu Complex Town, and Yongsan Station. District employees patrol in pairs.
For those with fever symptoms above 37.5℃, travel history to China within 14 days is checked, and reporting guidance and follow-up measures are provided.
Promotional activities have also been strengthened for foreigners, vulnerable groups, and multi-use facilities. Infection prevention guidelines were sent to 57 foreign embassies in the area, and disinfection supplies or response manuals were distributed to 213 lodging facilities, 119 daycare centers, 88 senior centers, 13 performance venues, and 2 movie theaters.
Furthermore, to prevent infectious diseases, the district has canceled or postponed all youth overseas training programs, senior job projects, community center programs, and lifelong education lectures. All meetings, events, and conferences, except those absolutely necessary, have also been canceled.
To counteract the local economic downturn caused by infectious diseases, the district plans to actively respond through ▲80 billion KRW scale loans for small and medium enterprises and small business owners ▲20 billion KRW scale loans for youth enterprises ▲300 million KRW scale public-private cooperation job projects ▲development of Gyeongridan-gil as a place people want to revisit ▲operation of staff traditional market days.
