[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Kim Byung-won, a preliminary candidate for the Democratic Party of Korea in Naju·Hwasun, Jeonnam, expressed concern over the spread of false information and illegal election activities on SNS, stating that he will take strong action regarding these matters.
On the 5th, candidate Kim released a statement saying, "On the 3rd, a city council member of Naju City has been spreading false information related to the 2016 NongHyup Central Association presidential election through SNS," and emphasized, "Especially since the person spreading false information is a current lawmaker, this cannot be overlooked."
He continued, "Our party has set the principle of mutual non-defamation among candidates for an overwhelming victory in the upcoming April 15 general election," adding, "Nevertheless, it is both an irresponsible political act and a violation for a responsible party's incumbent city council member to lead efforts to damage the reputation of a specific candidate."
