[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that it will cancel, postpone, or scale down cultural and artistic events due to growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.
The ‘Jeongwol Daeboreum Folk Play Festival’ scheduled for the 7th and the ‘79th Tuesday Night Guest’ event scheduled for the 25th have been canceled, and the ‘Unfinished Cheerful Songs’ book concert scheduled for the 18th and the film screenings promoted at the Art Hall will be postponed indefinitely.
Additionally, the Saecho Village ‘Gaetje’ festival on the 7th, the Daegu-myeon ‘Pujonamu Dangsanje’ on the same day, the Byeongyeong ‘Bijanamu Dangsanje’ on the 8th, the Gangjin Hyanggyo ‘Seokjeon Daeje’ on the 24th, and the Gangjin Judo Association ‘Regular General Meeting’ on the 13th will be scaled down to village or member-only events.
The county also requested that the small-scale traditional seasonal games celebrating Daeboreum planned in 13 villages be conducted as private events involving only village residents.
Currently, Gangjin-gun is fully mobilizing disease control, quarantine, and disaster safety infrastructure to block the inflow of the novel coronavirus, installing negative pressure isolation facilities at Gangjin Medical Center and screening clinics at public health centers, and operating a 24-hour emergency duty system.
The head of the Gangjin-gun Cultural Arts Department said, “After much consideration to alleviate residents’ anxiety and prioritize their safety and health, we decided to cancel, postpone, or scale down events,” and requested, “Please refrain from small cultural and artistic events organized by villages as much as possible.”
