Kim Woong Joins New Conservative Party... "Cedar Seeds Are Small but Grow into Tall, Majestic Trees"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The New Conservative Party recruited former Chief Prosecutor Kim Woong, well known as the author of 'Prosecutor's Civil War,' as a new member on the 4th. Former Chief Prosecutor Kim expressed his ambition by criticizing the government's prosecution reform, saying, "I will take down the fraud cartel at the top." Regarding his recruitment into a small party, he optimistically said, "The cedar seed is smaller than a sesame seed, but when it grows, it becomes a tall and majestic tree," expressing confidence in its growth potential.
At the welcoming ceremony held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building that day, Chief Prosecutor Kim explained his reason for joining, saying, "I recently resigned in protest against the investigation rights adjustment bill, and I thought I had done my part, but every day my regret and guilt grew stronger."
He raised his voice, saying, "I could not understand why such laws that are disadvantageous, inconvenient, and unfair to the people are disguised as reforms, and how cheating and privilege become reforms through emotional appeals and agitation, transforming into fairness and justice like a nine-tailed fox. It was hard to understand how one fraudster is replaced by another after being sent away."
He added, "When investigating corruption in the living power becomes insubordination and leads to oppression, and when the accused threatens to punish the prosecution, or when ordinary people say life is hard and are told the neighborhood water has gone bad, I decided to jump into the storm of politics and do what I do best because of such guilt and helplessness."
Chief Prosecutor Kim stated, "What I do best is catching fraudsters, and I have decided to take down this fraud cartel at the top of the Republic of Korea's fraud republic."
In response to a reporter's question about the misunderstanding that he might be power-hungry, he said, "Sorry, but if that were the case, I would not have come to the New Conservative Party," explaining, "I only recently thought about going into politics. When I made up my mind, I decided to join the New Conservative Party. I attended the National Assembly for a year, and the New Conservative Party members listened very attentively and empathized."
Regarding the limitations of working in a minority party, he answered, "A pumpkin seed is quite large but grows only sideways. However, a cedar seed is smaller than a sesame seed, but when it grows, it becomes a tall and majestic tree. Ultimately, it is the people who choose, and how it grows depends on the will and spirit inherent in that soil."
On the integration process with the Liberty Korea Party, he said, "Currently, fighting against pro-Moon Jae-in hegemonism is a timely and important task. I believe we can definitely move forward together in that regard, and even if we integrate, the New Conservative Party's orientation toward community and the past conservative party's mistaken reflections will remain."
Yoo Seung-min, Chairman of the Conservative Reconstruction Committee of the New Conservative Party, said, "While reading the book Prosecutor's Civil War, I thought this person is exactly the kind of brave reformer pursuing a warm community and a just world that the New Conservative Party aims for," and added, "If he wishes, it is my duty as a senior in politics to help him change the world according to his convictions."

Ha Tae-kyung, co-representative of the New Conservative Party, also said, "Former Chief Prosecutor Kim is known as a specialist in fraud crimes, and he perfectly matches the spirit of the New Conservative Party, which condemns the Moon Jae-in fraud regime and upholds the rule of law and justice," adding, "We will fight together against the pro-Moon mafia, who sold out the old democratic and justice spirit and are left only with greed for power."
