Mobile Election Strategy Headquarters... 'Tuning' Limousine Emerges
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] As the political clock speeds up toward the April 15 general election, related industries are also stirring. D-Tech GMBH, a specialized company in the automotive aftermarket (Technical Advisor Yoon Jongyoung, Professor at Hanyang University), has introduced the country’s first multipurpose election limousine, the ‘DTV21’.
The ‘DTV21’ is equipped with a 2.3L twin-turbo diesel engine delivering a maximum output of 145 horsepower and a peak torque of 36.7 kg·m. Through large flush glass, it offers a wide-open feeling along with enhanced ventilation and airflow. An electric step (footboard) is installed as standard to improve convenience when getting in and out.
Thanks to a high roof height of 2500 mm, there is no need to lower one’s head inside the vehicle. The combined fuel efficiency is 10.5 km per liter. It is equipped with a lane departure warning system, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, and electronic brake assist, enabling stable driving.
The ‘DTV21’ aims to be a moving ‘election strategy command center.’ To this end, it is equipped with an advanced sound system that completely blocks external eavesdropping. The dress room (fixed wardrobe) installed in the vehicle interior is perfect for the candidate’s ‘detailed campaigning.’ The ability to create delicate fashion presentations tailored to various and sudden campaign situations is especially likely to appeal to female candidates.
Additionally, the DTV21 allows comfortable sleeping like a camper van and is equipped with a built-in refrigerator, enabling replenishment of energy and stamina while on the move. The air purification function automatically responds to fine dust outside the vehicle, which is another advantage.
The base vehicle is Renault Samsung’s 13-seater minibus ‘Renault Master,’ and unusually for a tuned vehicle, it comes with Renault Samsung’s 3-year free warranty service.
Cost-effectiveness is another undeniable strength of the ‘DTV21.’ In terms of specs, it is comparable to the Hyundai Motor Solati and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter but is priced at only around 70 million KRW. Notably, its wheelbase is 10 mm longer than similar models, offering ample space.
Promotional materials can be attached to the sides and rear of the vehicle to make the candidate more appealing, and especially on the rear, advertising boards and displays can be installed. It is essentially another campaign vehicle.
Yoon Jongyoung, Technical Advisor at D-Tech GMBH, said, “It can be used as a ‘moving office’ to directly listen to and communicate with local residents,” adding, “It also has a wide range of uses for local government heads.”

Meanwhile, D-Tech GMBH started from the D-Tech Convergence Research Institute on Hanyang University ERICA Campus. The company proved its business viability by modifying Renault Samsung’s ultra-compact electric car Twizy and supplying it to public institutions (post office) and local governments (Busan City). It holds the exclusive domestic rights for Porsche tuning business in Germany.
