Where Will the 'Job-Linked Support Housing' Be Built?…Local Governments Launch Contest
Startup Support Housing, Regional Strategic Industry Support Housing, and Housing Exclusively for Small Business Workers
If local governments propose project sites, final sites are selected after review and consultation
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 3rd that it will hold a public contest to select project sites for 'Job-Linked Support Housing,' which simultaneously addresses housing and employment.
The first round of this year's contest will be held over four months from this month until May. Local governments can propose sites such as areas near transit stations with convenient public transportation access, locations suitable for proximity between residence and workplace, or national and public lands with high youth housing demand by May 29. After document and on-site evaluations and expert consultations, the final project sites will be selected.
The eligible project site proposals for job-linked support housing include three types: ▲Startup Support Housing ▲Regional Strategic Industry Support Housing ▲Exclusive Housing for Small and Medium Enterprise Workers.
Local governments ultimately selected in the contest will receive financial and fund support to supply customized public rental housing for young workers in their regions. Through this, various benefits are expected, such as revitalizing local communities by attracting young populations and providing tailored housing support for vulnerable youth housing groups.
To provide accurate information about job-linked support housing, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will hold a 'Job-Linked Support Housing Local Government Briefing Session' on the 6th at the auditorium of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation Seoul Headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Currently, 34,000 units across 110 nationwide locations of job-linked support housing are underway, supplied in areas with abundant demand such as Pangyo 2nd Valley and Songpa Bangi, expected to help alleviate housing cost burdens for young entrepreneurs and others.
