Chonnam National University Emerges as a Leading Institution for Training Marine and Fisheries Civil Servants
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chonnam National University is rapidly emerging as a cradle for training various marine and fisheries public officials, including marine fisheries researchers.
According to Chonnam National University on the 31st, the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (Dean Kim Taeho) produced 47 marine and fisheries public officials in various government exams last year.
Among them, 11 people passed the marine fisheries researcher recruitment exam, which involves tasks such as marine fisheries research and technology development at institutions like the National Institute of Fisheries Science and Jeollanam-do, and 9 people were included in the marine and fisheries positions at grades 8 to 9.
Additionally, there were 23 successful candidates for marine police officers and 4 for fire service officers, covering various job series and ranks.
Over the past five years, the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences at Chonnam National University has produced a total of 183 national and local government officials, averaging about 36 per year.
This is analyzed as the result of establishing customized infrastructure such as active career counseling and employment guidance between professors and students, support for online video lectures, operation of exam preparation rooms, and educational expense support.

Dean Kim Taeho said, “We will continue to do our best to support the training of outstanding talents equipped with expertise in the marine and fisheries fields,” and added, “Furthermore, we will establish a systematic support system necessary for producing senior public officials and marine police officer candidates.”
