Yoo Seung-min "Proportional Representation Committee Chair, Initially Declined... Likely to Meet Hwang Next Week"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Yoo Seung-min, Chairman of the Conservative Reconstruction Committee of the New Conservative Party, expressed on the 31st that it is "difficult to accept immediately" the party's request to take on the role of proportional representation nomination management committee chairman.
Chairman Yoo said in a meeting with reporters right after the party leadership meeting at the National Assembly that morning, "I received the proposal just before the meeting, but I am not sure if it is appropriate for me to do it," indicating his position.
He added, "For now, if there is a better person to serve as the proportional representation nomination committee chairman, the co-representatives and I will look for someone else, and I conveyed that it is difficult to accept immediately."
He also revealed plans to meet with Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Liberty Korea Party, sometime next week. Chairman Yoo said, "Once the ongoing negotiations between the two parties reach a certain point, we will meet then," and added, "If we are to meet, I think it should be sometime next week."

Chairman Yoo emphasized again, "If confidential negotiations alone are sufficient, we will consider (a meeting). Nothing has been clearly decided yet. When confidential negotiations have been sufficiently conducted and it seems necessary to meet directly to confirm various intentions, then we will meet." Regarding behind-the-scenes talks, he said, "We are honestly asking each other all the questions we are curious about," and stated, "The conversation itself is proceeding honestly, which would be the accurate expression."
