Gwanak-gu Creates 5 'Miracle Children's Playgrounds' to Unlock Potential
This Year, Five 'Miracle Children's Playgrounds' Established... Goal to Create 10 by 2022
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) will create five "Miracle Children's Playgrounds" this year, using natural terrain and natural materials to allow children to run freely and cultivate their adventurous and challenging spirit.
During the 7th term of the elected government, Gwanak-gu is promoting the "Miracle Children's Playground Creation Project," which goes beyond the simple play functions of existing playgrounds and stimulates children's sensitivity and imagination while fostering a spirit of challenge, in collaboration with experts, child educators, and local residents.
Following the creation of four Miracle Children's Playgrounds last year, the district secured a total budget of 1.7 billion KRW this year and announced plans to open five new sites in the first half of the year.
This year's Miracle Children's Playground locations are ▲ Kkachi Children's Park (Haengun-dong 1678-1) ▲ Hapsil Children's Park (Samsung-dong 1704-1) ▲ Sangnok Children's Park (Namhyun-dong 602-322) ▲ Nambu Children's Park (Sinsa-dong 483-14) ▲ Halla Children's Park (Miseong-dong 750-39), totaling five sites.
To enhance the completeness of the playgrounds, the district formed a consultative body consisting of nearby daycare teachers with a high understanding of children's emotions and exercise spaces, as well as local residents, to engage in various discussions regarding necessary facilities and the composition of play areas.
As a result of these discussions, the design includes ▲ mounding hills that break away from uniform flat floors ▲ nature-friendly wooden swings ▲ facilities such as treehouses, slides, and hill climbing using natural materials within the park, aiming to inspire children's adventurous and challenging spirits and foster curiosity and imagination. The detailed design is currently underway.
Additionally, the playgrounds are planned to serve as community spaces where local residents can rest, communicate, and meet.
The district stated that it will sequentially improve aging children's playgrounds and create a total of 10 Miracle Children's Playgrounds by 2022, where children can experience play and nature.
