[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is recruiting residents to participate in the 2020 Village Community Project.
Guro-gu announced on the 31st that it will carry out the Village Community Support Project from May to November to enhance residents' sense of community and strengthen autonomous capabilities.
Guro-gu is recruiting participants in four categories considering residents' understanding of the project and participation experience: Seed Stage (forming groups), Group Growth, Group Expansion, and Specialized Projects.
The "Seed Stage" project helps residents of Guro-gu or those whose living area is Guro-gu, consisting of three or more people, to create and settle new small groups.
"Group Growth" targets groups (organizations) with experience in village communities. They are expected to carry out activities such as fostering alleyway community culture, discovering and implementing village agendas, and resident activities.
"Group Expansion" supports alliances of two or more groups with village community experience to form resident networks by village or agenda.
"Specialized Projects" target residents' autonomous committees, village vitality resident operation councils, seniors (residents aged 60 or older), and single-person households in their 20s to 40s. The residents' autonomous committees and village vitality resident operation councils will carry out village festivals and village vitality activation projects, respectively. Customized programs will also be prepared for seniors and single-person household participants.
Guro-gu plans to provide subsidies ranging from 1 million to 4.5 million KRW per group depending on the category. Groups must bear at least 5% of the subsidy cost (except for the Seed Stage project).
Those wishing to participate should prepare documents such as an organization introduction, project application/proposal, and local subsidy application form and submit them via the Seoul Village Community Comprehensive Support Center website (www.seoulmaeul.org) between February 7 and 19.
For more details, visit the district office website or contact the Autonomous Administration Division of the district office at 860-2208.
Guro-gu will select candidates through document screening, project selection committee review, and local subsidy review committee deliberation, and plans to post the results on the district office website at the end of April.
A Guro-gu official said, "We hope that through this project, residents will actively solve village problems and stand tall as the main actors leading the village community," and added, "We ask for the residents' great interest and participation."
