View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) held the 8th regular forum of the Mokmingwan Club for 2 days from the 30th to the 31st under the theme "Looking Back on 1 Year and 6 Months of Regional Innovation in the 7th Local Government."
On the 30th, 18 local government heads each selected one excellent innovative policy from their local government, innovative know-how they would recommend to other districts, and the most challenging issues they want to solve, then presented them in a 7-minute Ignite-style presentation.
Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu presented the excellent innovative policies including △‘Dobong Residents’ Hall,’ where residents gather in idle administrative spaces △the achievements of Dobong-style after-school programs through public-private cooperation △the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the direction of Dobong district administration.
Before the forum started, participants conducted a ‘Local Autonomy and Decentralization Promotion Performance,’ which included reading a resolution urging legislative and institutional improvements to strengthen local autonomy and decentralization, such as the complete revision of the Local Autonomy Act and the introduction of the autonomous police system to realize living autonomy.
Additionally, a publication celebration was held for the 5th volume of the Mokmingwan series, "Meeting Regional Innovation Leaders," which contains vivid stories of local autonomy from 48 local government heads.
On the 31st, participants toured Dobong-gu’s urban regeneration sites imbued with human warmth, including △‘Peace Culture Base,’ which transformed war traces (anti-tank defense facilities) into a space for peace (cultural creation space) △the happy transformation of the community center ‘Banghak 3-dong Village Vitality Banknaru’ △‘Platform Changdong 61,’ reborn as a complex cultural space in northeastern Seoul △‘Zero Gravity Zone,’ a free activity hangout space for youth, among other sites where Dobong-gu has achieved regional innovation through urban regeneration, touring these sites together with local government heads.
This forum was attended by a total of 200 people, including 18 local government heads belonging to the Mokmingwan Club and 182 public officials, reflecting on 1 year and 6 months of the 7th local government term, evaluating the achievements of innovation in local autonomy, and seeking improvement measures.
