All city and provincial council members from the Democratic Party in Seongnam Bundang-gap held a press conference on the 30th at the seminar room on the first floor of Seongnam City Council, declaring their support for Kim, stating, "For victory in the general election, competitiveness in the main election and the likelihood of winning are the most important."
They explained, "Although Kim is a political newcomer, he has solidified his position as a next-generation young leader by serving as a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party and other party leadership roles. He has also proven his ability and competence through various legislative activities protecting public safety and livelihoods."
They added, "Kim is steadily pushing forward and completing long-standing projects in Bundang-Pangyo, such as the extension of subway lines 3 and 8, the issue of the 10-year public rental housing sale conversion price, development of Seohyeon 110, tram introduction, and the creation of the Baekhyeon district MICE cluster. He is also leading efforts for the designation of Seongnam as a special city and continuously striving to resolve local issues."
Kim was the first Democratic Party member to win a seat in Bundang-gap in the last general election. Previously, Bundang-gap had produced six consecutive conservative party members and was considered a barren land for the Democratic Party. Former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon has agreed to serve as his campaign chairman, expanding his influence within the National Assembly.
Kim said, "I am grateful that incumbent city and provincial council members, who inevitably face great political burdens, have shown me unwavering affection and trust. The Moon Jae-in administration, the ruling party, and local city and provincial council members will all join forces to lead the development of South Korea and Bundang-Pangyo."
