Candidate Yibong Lee's Economic Pledge No. 2: 'Gwangsan-gu Full Employment City'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Lee Yong-bin, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for the Gwangsan-gu Gap district in Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced on the 28th the second economic pledge (job creation), unveiling the ‘Gwangsan-gu Full Employment City’ that aims to achieve 100% employment of the economically active population in Gwangsan-gu.
Candidate Lee Yong-bin stated, “Gwangsan-gu, the gateway to Honam, accounts for 44.5% of the total area of Gwangju and is the future and golden land of Gwangju,” adding, “We will create a city that connects all economic resources of Gwangsan-gu to become a ‘full employment city’ where all economically active people have jobs.”
Candidate Lee identified economic resources such as ▲the former site of Gwangju Military Airport ▲the Kumho Tire Gwangju factory site ▲old downtown regeneration areas ▲Gwangju Songjeong Station area ▲KTX investment leading district ▲Hwangryonggang area (including Jangnok Wetlands) ▲Seonun 2 district ▲Bitgreen Industrial Complex ▲Pyeongdong Energy Convergence Complex ▲AI Cluster ▲Sochon Agricultural and Industrial Complex.
Specifically, Candidate Lee said, “We must develop the Pyeongdong Energy Convergence Complex, Bitgreen Industrial Complex, and AI Cluster into an ICT complex cluster like Silicon Valley and a Green City like Cambridge Technopolis.”
He continued, “The old downtown regeneration area, Gwangju Songjeong Station area, and KTX investment leading district should be developed into a startup cluster attracting future companies like Swiss Zug and a Creative City attracting young people.”

He particularly suggested, “The former site of Gwangju Military Airport and the Kumho Tire Gwangju factory site, which are planned to be relocated, should be linked with the Hwangryonggang area and Seonun 2 district, and the Sochon Industrial Complex site should be transformed into a Smart City testbed for the nation’s future that the world loves and citizens are happy with.”
