North Korea and South Korea Report Detailed News on 'Wuhan Pneumonia'
North Korea has been on high alert after hearing news of the ‘Wuhan pneumonia’ infection in South Korea. The Workers' Party organ, Rodong Sinmun, reported on the 27th, citing southern media, that “a patient infected with the novel coronavirus has appeared in South Korea, raising concerns.” The newspaper provided a relatively detailed account, stating, “On the 24th, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed that one of the people who had been to Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, was infected with the novel coronavirus. Four people have developed fever and cough symptoms and are currently in isolation.”
Rodong Sinmun also reported on the spread of Wuhan pneumonia worldwide. It introduced, “On the 24th, U.S. health authorities announced the confirmation of the second novel coronavirus infection case in the country,” and added, “The infected person living in Illinois showed symptoms a few days after returning from Wuhan, China on the 13th.” It further noted that infection cases have also occurred in Japan, France, Australia, Malaysia, Nepal, and other countries.

North Korea first reported on Wuhan pneumonia through an interview with the director of the National Hygiene Inspection Institute of the Ministry of Public Health on the 21st. Since then, it has been reporting daily on the outbreak status in various countries around the world. No news of infections within North Korea has been reported yet.
