[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Sang-do] A firefighter who collapsed due to a cerebral hemorrhage during work passed away after more than three months of battling the illness.
The National Fire Agency announced on the 26th that Park Chan-hee (49), a fire lieutenant who collapsed while working in the office last October and was hospitalized for treatment, died at around 10:05 PM on the 25th due to worsening condition.
The deceased, who was serving as the head of the personnel team at the National Fire Agency, suddenly collapsed in the office during a busy period ahead of the 'personnel season.' He was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage and admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit for treatment but never regained consciousness.
He joined the Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters as a career rescuer in 1996. He subsequently worked at the Central 119 Rescue Team, the Fire Policy Division and the Life Safety Division of the National Fire Agency. Since February last year, he had been serving as the head of the Personnel Team in the Operations Support Division.
