According to Chinese media such as China News Network on the 22nd, Gao Zancheng, a member of the expert team of the National Health Commission of China, stated in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) on the 21st, based on current cases, that "the incubation period is as short as 2 to 3 days and as long as about 10 to 12 days."
He described the symptoms as fever and dry cough. He explained, "There can be mild fever or high fever. Dry cough also frequently appears. Coughing up phlegm, including thick phlegm, can occur, but such cases are relatively rare."
He said, "Patients report shortness of breath or chest tightness after 3 to 5 days," adding, "symptoms worsen after physical activity, and in severe cases, respiratory failure and shock may occur."
