Gwangju Nam-gu Implements Meal Delivery Services Including Senior Cafeteria Operation During Lunar New Year Holiday
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) will operate senior citizen cafeterias during the Lunar New Year holiday period for vulnerable elderly residents and those at risk of missing meals, and provide meal delivery services to elderly residents who have difficulty visiting the cafeterias due to mobility issues.
According to Nam-gu on the 22nd, the senior cafeterias will be operated on the 24th and 27th, the Lunar New Year holidays, at the Social Welfare Corporation Bundo and Anna Gaemikkotdongsan located in Sajik-dong's former Sarang Restaurant.
On the 24th and 27th during lunchtime, visitors to this senior cafeteria can receive meals, and approximately 650 elderly people are expected to use the service.
In addition, four social welfare facilities in the district will provide a service delivering substitute food to 446 elderly people with mobility difficulties, basic livelihood security recipients aged 60 or older, and low-income elderly residents among facility users to their homes on the 24th, 25th, and 27th respectively.
First, the Gwangju Metropolitan City Federation of the Korea Senior Citizens Association will deliver substitute foods such as pre-cooked rice, rice cake soup, ramen, eggs, and dumplings to 48 elderly people’s homes, and the Nam-gu Senior Welfare Center plans to provide substitute foods including two packs of samgyetang and ramen to 295 elderly people.
Also, Yangji Comprehensive Social Welfare Center will deliver food items such as pre-cooked rice and instant soup to 76 elderly people’s homes, and the Nam-gu Senior Club will deliver pre-cooked rice, rice cake soup, fruit, jeon (Korean pancakes), and side dishes to 27 elderly people to ensure they do not miss meals.
