[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon City 119 Rescue Team has been dispatched an average of 39 times a day over the past five years, safely rescuing 13 people.
According to the statistics on rescue activities over the past five years from the Incheon Fire Headquarters on the 22nd, the 119 Rescue Team was dispatched an average of 14,411 times per year and rescued 4,638 people on site. This means they responded to the scene 1.6 times every hour.
By type of accident, fire dispatches were the most frequent at 14,499 cases (34.6%), followed by elevator incidents at 6,871 cases (16.4%), and traffic accidents at 5,812 cases (13.9%).
By location, incidents occurred most frequently in apartment complexes with 12,090 cases (34.9%), roads and railways with 7,739 cases (18.5%), and sales facilities with 4,135 cases (9.9%), mainly in residential and transportation-related areas.
By month, August recorded the highest number with 4,270 cases (10.1%), followed by July with 4,012 cases (9.6%) and January with 3,624 cases (8.7%). The summer months (July to August), when outdoor activities such as vacations are frequent, showed higher numbers, followed by winter with many safety accidents such as falls.
By day of the week, Saturdays and Sundays accounted for 13,059 cases (31.2%), and by time of day, the afternoon hours (12 PM to 4 PM) saw the most incidents with 9,263 cases (22.1%).

View original imageBy district, the number of rescues was highest in Namdong-gu with 7,995 cases (19.1%), Seo-gu with 6,516 cases (15.6%), and Bupyeong-gu with 5,730 cases (13.7%), indicating that accidents occurred more frequently in densely populated areas. However, in terms of incidence rate per population, Jung-gu, Ongjin-gun, and Ganghwa-gun ranked highest.
Additionally, over the past five years, safety-related dispatches included animal capture with 20,078 cases (30%), beehive removal with 18,368 cases (27.2%), and lock opening with 17,827 cases (26.4%) as the most common.
