The GEI is an index published by Bloomberg to provide investors with information on companies' ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management status. It surveys companies listed on U.S. stock exchanges with a market capitalization of over 1 billion dollars, evaluating gender equality policies and efforts across five categories: 'female leadership and talent development, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, sexual harassment policies, and women-friendly brands.'
KB Financial Group was highly evaluated for its official support of the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), and for KB Kookmin Bank and KB Securities signing a voluntary agreement with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family on the 'Gender-Balanced Inclusive Growth Partnership (collaborative relationship),' continuously implementing various efforts such as prohibiting gender discrimination within the company, expanding female employees in managerial positions, and supporting work-life balance.
This year, 325 companies from 42 countries were selected for the '2020 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index,' including many advanced global companies such as Goldman Sachs, S&P, and Bank of America, along with KB Financial Group.
Yoon Jong-kyu, Chairman of KB Financial, emphasized at the group management workshop held earlier this year, "Let us quickly internalize and further spread the ESG-based management system to solidify our status as a leading exemplary financial group in sustainable management." Through these efforts, KB Financial has achieved accomplishments such as inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World Index for four consecutive years, being selected as the No. 1 company in the '2019 Korea Corporate Governance Service Governance Evaluation' for two consecutive years, and winning the 'CDP Climate Change 2018' Financial Sector Carbon Management Sector Honors for two consecutive years.
