Hanwha Group's New Executives' First Public Activity is 'Volunteer Work'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Group's newly appointed executives conducted volunteer activities as their first external engagement.
Hanwha Group announced that its newly appointed executives in 2020 carried out the '2020 New Executive Volunteer Activity,' a sharing event for the Lunar New Year with marginalized neighbors around us.
Based on the social contribution philosophy of 'Together Far,' Hanwha Group continues its sustainable management activities through corporate social responsibility and sharing practices. To support marginalized neighbors and local communities, the group conducts the 'New Executive Volunteer Activity.'
Started in 2008 and continuing for 13 years, this is Hanwha Group's representative participatory social contribution program. On the 21st, about 60 newly promoted executives from the year-end personnel announcement in December last year participated in the volunteer activity held at 'Ganghwado Uri Village' located in Ganghwa-gun, Incheon Metropolitan City.
Ganghwado Uri Village, operated by the Anglican Diocese of Seoul Social Welfare Foundation, is a vocational rehabilitation facility that helps people with developmental disabilities build an economic independence foundation by providing stable jobs and vocational rehabilitation services.
The newly appointed executives who participated in the volunteer activity made traditional Lunar New Year foods such as jeonbuchi (pan-fried rice cakes) and donggeurangttaeng (Korean meat patties) together with about 40 people with developmental disabilities living in Ganghwado Uri Village.
Lee Yoon-hwan, Executive Director of Hanwha Construction, who participated in the volunteer activity that day, said, "As a new executive, I was able to start the new year in a meaningful place. I was happy and found it a meaningful time to meet new family members and share the sentiment of 'Together Far' with them."
