'Parasite' Wins Top Honor at the American Film Actors Guild Awards Ceremony
The film Parasite won the highest honor in the “Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture” category at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.
On the 19th (local time), the Screen Actors Guild announced Parasite as the winner of the “Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture” award at the ceremony held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, USA. This is the first time a foreign film outside the United States has won this category. In 1998, the Italian film Life is Beautiful, directed by Roberto Benigni, was nominated but did not win.
Song Kang-ho, Choi Woo-shik, Lee Sun-kyun, Park So-dam, and Lee Jung-eun took the stage to share their joy. This category awards all the lead and supporting actors who appeared in the film. Parasite triumphed over strong contenders such as The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, Bombshell, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Speaking on behalf of the cast, Song Kang-ho said, “It is an honor to receive such a great award in front of the esteemed actors. I will cherish this beautiful memory forever.” He added, “Parasite is a film that contemplates coexistence. Receiving the ensemble’s highest award today makes me think, ‘We didn’t make the film wrong,’” eliciting laughter from the audience.
