Onnuri Gift Certificate Purchase Limit Up to 700,000 KRW per Month Until February
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City has prepared a comprehensive plan for the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday and will operate a comprehensive situation room during the holiday period.
The city announced on the 20th that it has established detailed measures in 11 areas including price stabilization, transportation, ancestral grave visits, emergency medical care, and water supply, and will operate situation rooms for each sector 24 hours a day.
First, to ensure smooth movement and safety of returning visitors, public transportation will be increased and tolls for private tunnels will be waived.
Express buses and intercity buses will increase the number of vehicles compared to usual, and passenger ships will also increase the number of trips to reduce congestion. Incheon Urban Railroad Lines 1 and 2 will operate extended hours until 2:05 AM the next day at terminal stations on the 26th and 27th.
Also, from the 24th to the 26th, tolls will be waived for all vehicles using three private tunnels: Munhak, Wonjeoksan, and Manwolsan. Drivers can pass through toll booths as usual without card or cash payment.
The city decided to waive tolls on private roads connected to toll-free expressways during the Lunar New Year holiday to facilitate use and to ensure smooth traffic flow on roads around Incheon Family Park, where congestion is expected.
Vehicle entry near Incheon Family Park, where many ancestral grave visitors are expected, will be restricted on the holiday, the 25th, and free shuttle buses will operate every 2 minutes between Dongam Elementary School and Family Park from 8 AM to 5 PM. Jeil High School will open its playground as a temporary parking lot from the 24th to the 27th, and Dongam Elementary School will do the same on the holiday.
The city will also raise the monthly purchase limit of Onnuri gift certificates to boost sales for small merchants in traditional markets during the Lunar New Year holiday.
Onnuri gift certificates, which are usually available at a 5% discount (paper and electronic) with a monthly purchase limit of up to 300,000 KRW per person, can be purchased up to 700,000 KRW monthly until the 28th of next month. Buyers must bring identification, and a 10% discount applies for mobile purchases.
Parking and stopping will be allowed on roads around 25 traditional markets such as agricultural and marine products markets, the general fish market, and Geobuk Market until the 27th due to insufficient parking spaces. Incheon City and Incheon Police Agency will allow flexible parking during day and night hours at 22 additional traditional markets besides the three markets?Songhyeon, Seokbawi, and Songdo Station Market?where permanent parking is already permitted.
Twenty emergency medical institutions, including Gil Hospital, will provide 24-hour emergency care during the holiday, and seven public late-night pharmacies in Incheon, along with holiday duty pharmacies, will open on designated days during the holiday period.
Information on emergency medical institutions and holiday duty pharmacies will be available from 6 PM on the 23rd on the Emergency Medical Information Center website (www.e-gen.or.kr), including institution names, phone numbers, addresses, and operating dates and hours.
It can also be checked on the Ministry of Health and Welfare and Incheon City websites, and information can be obtained by calling 129 (Health and Welfare Call Center), 119 (Emergency Situation Management Center), or 120 (Michuhol Call Center).
The city will also operate a 24-hour rapid response recovery team during the Lunar New Year holiday to ensure stable tap water supply and promptly handle civil complaints such as leaks.
