Samsung Asset Management Provides Advisory Services for the First Commodity Futures ETF on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange
[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Samsung Asset Management's advisory service-backed exchange-traded fund (ETF) has made the first commodity futures listing on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in China.
Samsung Asset Management announced on the 17th that it held a listing ceremony for the 'Jianshen Energy Chemical Commodity Futures ETF' on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
This product is the first futures ETF listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and the first futures ETF listed by Jianshen Fund. It is designed to track the returns of the 'Yi Sheng Energy Chemical Index A,' which consists of core commodities on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange such as anthracite coal, methanol, PTA (petrochemical raw material), and glass futures. The Zhengzhou Exchange is one of China's three major commodity exchanges along with Shanghai and Dalian. A Samsung Asset Management official explained, "The energy chemical ETF has a low correlation with stocks and bonds, making it a useful asset allocation tool."
Samsung Asset Management formed a strategic partnership with Jianshen Fund in 2015. The following year, they signed an advisory contract regarding ETF management, including product development, marketing, and operations. Since 2017, they have provided advisory services for a total of five listed ETFs, starting with the SSE (Shanghai Stock Exchange) 50 investing in large-cap stocks, followed by Chinext, MSCI China A International, HSCEI state-owned enterprises, and CSI300 dividend ETFs. Jianshen Fund is a subsidiary of China Construction Bank and is the second-largest asset management company in China with approximately 240 trillion KRW in assets under management.
