Dongdaemun-gu Achieves 'Grade 1' in Local Tax and Non-Tax Revenue Management Performance Evaluation
Highly Praised for Improving Non-Tax Revenue Collection Rate, Operating Dedicated Collection Team, and Holding Collection Reporting Meetings; Selected as 'Outstanding Institution' in the 2019 Local Non-Tax Revenue Operation Performance Analysis and Diagnosis
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yu Deok-yeol) was selected as an ‘Excellent Institution’ by receiving a first-grade rating in the ‘2019 Local Non-Tax Revenue Operation Performance Analysis and Diagnosis’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The ‘2019 Local Non-Tax Revenue Operation Performance Analysis and Diagnosis’ was conducted on 243 local governments nationwide. Based on the 2018 fiscal year, it targeted five tax items: △fines △enforcement charges △penalties △contributions △compensations, and included both a document evaluation and on-site inspection of indicators such as △improvement of non-tax revenue collection rate △efforts to reduce arrears and overpayments △operation of a dedicated non-tax revenue collection team △holding collection reporting meetings.
The district was recognized for successfully promoting the improvement of the non-tax revenue collection rate, operating a dedicated collection team, holding collection reporting meetings, and providing job training for staff in charge of non-tax revenue, achieving the great accomplishment of obtaining a first-grade rating.
In particular, the achievement is even more remarkable as only 22 out of the 243 local governments nationwide received a first-grade rating.
Yu Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “I am very pleased that the efforts made together with the staff to achieve the non-tax revenue collection target have resulted in a first-grade rating,” and added, “We will do our best to achieve the revenue target again this year.”
