KOSPI Settles at 2240 Level for the First Time in 9 Months Due to Individual Buying Pressure

On the 16th, the KOSPI closed at 2248.05, up 0.77% from the previous trading day. It was the first time in 9 months since April 17 last year (2245.89) that the KOSPI ended the day above the 2240 level.
In the securities market, individuals net bought stocks worth 223.1 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions sold stocks worth 37.9 billion KRW and 198.5 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics (2.88%), SK Hynix (1.02%), Samsung Biologics (0.46%), and Hyundai Motor (3.04%) rose. LG Household & Health Care (-1.20%) and POSCO (-0.21%) declined.
On this day in the KOSPI market, 374 stocks rose, including one stock that hit the upper price limit, while 437 stocks fell with no stocks hitting the lower price limit. 97 stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ index closed at 686.52, up 1.08% from the previous trading day. Supported by simultaneous buying from foreigners and institutions, it closed higher for the second consecutive day. Individuals net sold stocks worth 21.8 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions net bought stocks worth 1.7 billion KRW and 21.4 billion KRW, respectively.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Celltrion Healthcare surged 5.96%. On the other hand, HLB (-3.88%), CJ ENM (-1.07%), and Pearl Abyss (-2.51%) declined.
