Park Hyung-jun: "No Party-to-Party Consultative Body Between Korean Party and Saebosu Party"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Park Hyung-joon, chairman of the Innovation Integration Promotion Committee (IIPC), which is leading the centrist-conservative integration, stated regarding the New Conservative Party's proposal to the Liberty Korea Party (LKP) side to form a party-to-party consultative body that the LKP side has also expressed regret and that "I believe there will be no consultative body."
After holding the 3rd meeting at the National Assembly Members' Office Building on the 16th, Chairman Park told reporters about the proposal to form a party-to-party consultative body, "Several lawmakers raised issues about that part, and LKP lawmaker Kim Sang-hoon also raised concerns," adding, "It is inappropriate."
He emphasized, "It is better to focus within the IIPC," and said, "While separate discussions that are not public are acceptable, we agreed that creating a discussion body that could weaken the IIPC is undesirable." He also mentioned that New Conservative Party lawmaker Jung Woon-cheon expressed agreement on this matter.
Regarding this, Chairman Park also expressed regret to Ha Tae-kyung, co-representative of the New Conservative Party. He said, "I conveyed the opinion that if they proceed without consulting us, it could cause confusion with the IIPC," and "Representative Ha also understood my position." On the possibility of forming a party-to-party consultative body, he said, "It is a matter to ask the LKP, but I understood that it would not take the form of a party-to-party integration organization."
Regarding the LKP's appointment of former National Assembly Speaker Kim Hyung-o as the head of the nomination committee on the same day, he explained, "The LKP side conveyed to me that administrative procedures would be impossible if the nomination committee head is not selected now," adding, "The integration parties had been requesting to postpone the selection of the nomination committee head, and the LKP accepted this, but now it is the final stage on a practical level." He added that he conveyed to the LKP side that it is desirable for the composition of the nomination committee and the progress of candidate screening to be linked with the integration process.
Regarding the news that former People's Party leader Ahn Cheol-soo will return to Korea on the 19th ahead of the Lunar New Year, he refrained from commenting, saying, "This has not been discussed within the IIPC."

Meanwhile, at the 3rd meeting held that day, the committee members agreed on three values that the new integrated party should pursue: ▲ Recognizing that the Moon Jae-in administration's governance does not respect the spirit of the constitution and threatens the constitutional order and system of liberal democracy and market economy, the party finds its value in uprightly establishing and expanding the constitutional spirit ▲ Taking the values of freedom, democracy, republic, and fairness as central values and expanding them as the mission of the integrated party ▲ The integrated party always places future values at the center, constantly monitoring civilizational changes such as the AI revolution, climate change, and super-aging, and proactively responding to them as the party's most important mission.
