At a New Year's press conference held at the National Assembly that day, Lee said, "Prosecutorial reform legislation was a long-standing task that could not be achieved for decades due to opposition from the prosecution, but it was finally passed."
He continued, "We were also able to amend the election law, which had been a long-standing issue," adding, "The 20th National Assembly is often called the worst, but on the contrary, it succeeded in impeaching the government involved in the political scandal, and in the final stages, it handled major unresolved issues."
He said, "Now, the most important thing is winning the general election," and added, "This general election is a crucial turning point that will decide whether the Republic of Korea regresses to the past or completes the Candlelight Revolution and moves forward into the future."
Lee emphasized, "With the change in the election system, our party has effectively conceded a significant number of proportional representation seats, so it will be a difficult election where we need to gain more seats in the constituencies," and added, "We have prepared a lot and feel that we are ahead compared to other parties, but election results are always uncertain."
