Busan Fire Department Special Judicial Police, 196 Fire Safety Offenders Sent to Prosecution
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] The Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters Special Judicial Police announced on the 15th that they referred 196 violators of fire-related laws to the prosecution last year.
Regarding violations by law, there were 13 violators of the Fire Services Act for assaulting paramedics, 98 violators of the Fire Industry Act including violations of fire facility construction contracts and unregistered business operations, 53 violators of the Hazardous Materials Safety Control Act, and 32 violators who failed to comply with fire facility orders.
The Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters explained that despite strict investigations and severe punishments under the zero-tolerance policy for assaulting paramedics, similar incidents continue to occur.
For example, around noon on March 31 last year, a man in his 40s who collapsed intoxicated in Suan-dong, Dongnae-gu, Busan, was prosecuted for assaulting two paramedics who responded and was sentenced to six months in prison with a two-year probation and community service order.

Since 2016, the Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters has assigned 44 special judicial police officers to frontline fire stations to investigate violators of laws and refer them to the prosecution.
