Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Launches Special Environmental Pollution Crackdown Ahead of Lunar New Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Dong-han] Gwangsan District, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Sam-ho) announced on the 14th that it will conduct special inspections and monitoring activities to prevent environmental pollution accidents until the end of this month.
This special monitoring was promoted to prevent environmental pollution accidents caused by unauthorized discharge of wastewater or abnormal operation of pollution prevention facilities by taking advantage of lax management of pollutant-emitting businesses during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The process is divided into three stages: promotion before the Chuseok holiday, monitoring and crackdown during the holiday, and technical support after the holiday.
Before the Lunar New Year holiday (Stage 1: 14th?23rd), about 260 pollutant-emitting businesses in the district will be encouraged to conduct voluntary inspections, and inspection teams will be organized to focus on monitoring the normal operation of environmental facilities at about 20 wastewater discharge businesses.
During the Lunar New Year holiday (Stage 2: 24th?27th), the "Environmental Pollution Accident Response Situation Room" will operate 24 hours a day, maintaining an emergency contact system with related organizations such as the Ministry of Environment to respond promptly to any environmental pollution accidents.
After the Lunar New Year holiday (Stage 3: 28th?31st), technical support such as environmental facility and process diagnosis will be provided through the Gwangju Green Environment Support Center for companies caught during the special monitoring and those vulnerable in environmental management.
