Gangseo-gu Volunteer Disaster Prevention Team Operation, Selected as Seoul City No.1
District, Ministry of the Interior and Safety Hosted '2019 Regional Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps Operation Evaluation'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced on the 14th that it was selected as the best district among Seoul's autonomous districts in the '2019 City/County/District Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps Operation Evaluation' conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
This evaluation was conducted on 228 autonomous disaster prevention corps nationwide in cities, counties, and districts. It comprehensively assessed the overall operational performance of the local autonomous disaster prevention corps, including ▲activity achievements, ▲budget planning and execution performance, and ▲activation plans.
Gangseo-gu ranked first among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul and was selected as the best district, receiving a commendation for national disaster management merit.
High evaluations were given for carrying out essential disaster prevention activities in the region, including quarantine activities, protection of disaster-vulnerable groups, disaster prevention, and participation in disaster safety campaigns.
The district's autonomous disaster prevention corps has been conducting disaster prevention activities with 336 members across 20 neighborhoods since its inauguration ceremony in 2010.
Going forward, the district plans to strengthen the capabilities of the disaster prevention corps by enhancing various disaster response drills and specialized training for the corps, as well as conducting disaster prevention education and promotional activities targeting residents.
