Gwanak-gu Provides Customized Public Jobs
Selection of over 350 public workers, New Deal jobs, and community jobs in the first half of 2020... Simultaneous job creation and low-income resident livelihood stabilization through public job provision
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is initiating efforts to build an inclusive economy by stabilizing residents' lives and boosting their motivation to work.
The district provides jobs to vulnerable groups such as long-term unemployed, low-income individuals, and unemployed youth through various customized employment projects including public work projects, community job projects, and New Deal job projects, achieving both job creation and residents' livelihood stabilization simultaneously.
In November 2019, the public work project for the first half of 2020, which was applied for through the local community service centers in the residential areas, selected a total of 290 participants after reviewing applicants' property, income, and other eligibility information.
The selected participants were assigned to various departments of the district office and community service centers considering their preferred locations, career (special skills), and health conditions, engaging in diverse activities such as administrative support and environmental maintenance.
Additionally, in the first half of 2020, 40 people were selected for the community job project and 26 for the New Deal job project, providing opportunities to work at the district office, public institutions, and social enterprises.
The community job project applications can be submitted at the local community service centers in January, and the New Deal job project applications can be submitted to each department of the district office from January 29 to February 4.
Furthermore, the district supports public job participants with various supplies such as fine dust masks and hot packs, and strives to prevent health and safety accidents through education on industrial accident and sexual harassment prevention.
Also, to help participants transition from financially supported jobs to stable private sector employment, the district plans to provide high-quality employment information and support through the Job Center located on the first floor of the district office.
Mayor Park Junhee stated, “We will provide customized public jobs reflecting local characteristics to residents, achieving both job creation and livelihood stabilization for low-income residents,” and added, “We will strive to build a strong Gwanak economy through various projects to revitalize the local economy.”
