Iran "Ukraine Civilian Plane Shootdown Theory... Psychological Warfare Created by US Government"
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The Iranian government has refuted remarks by a U.S. government official claiming that a Ukrainian civilian aircraft was shot down by an Iranian missile, calling it a "big fraud."
Ali Rabiei, spokesperson for the Iranian government, appeared on Iranian state TV on the 10th (local time) and asserted that the claim that Iran shot down the Ukrainian civilian aircraft is part of the U.S. government's "psychological warfare." He added, "When such lies are exposed as fraud, no one will be able to take responsibility."
Rabiei stated that according to international law, the investigation of the accident can be conducted by Iran, where the accident occurred; Ukraine, which authorized and owns the aircraft; Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer; and France, the country where the aircraft engine was produced.
He said, "The Ukrainian investigation team is already in Iran, and regardless of nationality, any country is welcome to participate in the accident investigation."
The head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Association also appeared on the broadcast and refuted the claim that the Ukrainian civilian aircraft was shot down by an Iranian missile as an "illogical rumor."
