Changwon City Installs Integrity Scales at Masan Fish Market

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Son Tae-seok] Changwon City, Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 10th that it has installed honesty scales at three locations within the 260-year-old Masan Fish Market: Nonghyup Street, Neoreunmadang, and the Western Public Parking Lot.
The scales were pilot-installed as part of the Masan Fish Market specialization first-step development project, which is being promoted with a budget of 300 million KRW funded equally by the national government (50%) and the city government (50%). The honesty scales can weigh up to 15 kg.
Masan Fish Market is preparing to transform into a cultural tourism market supported with up to 1 billion KRW (50% national government, 50% city government) after completing five core tasks in 2019, including service innovation and organizational capacity enhancement.

Changwon City plans to invest a total of 25 billion KRW from national, provincial, and city funds in 2020 for projects such as creating parking lots at nine markets including Dogye Couple Market and modernizing traditional market facilities to revitalize traditional markets, which are at the forefront of the local economy.
