[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will present the ‘KBS Symphony Orchestra New Year Concert’ as the first planned performance of the Nowon Culture and Arts Center in 2020.
The concert will be held on the 31st at 7:30 PM at the Nowon Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater.
Since its inaugural performance in 1956, the KBS Symphony Orchestra has delivered over 100 high-quality performances annually for 63 years, establishing itself as Korea’s representative symphony orchestra. In 2020, it plans to attract audiences with differentiated performances and fresh programming.
The New Year concert at the Nowon Culture and Arts Center will live up to its reputation with a diverse program featuring composers from Poland, Hungary, and Russia.
The program includes △ Liszt’s Symphonic Poem No. 5 “Prometheus” S.99 △ Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21 △ Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1 in G minor, Op. 13 “Winter Daydreams.”
The baton will be held by Alexander Lazarev, a Russian conductor. Known as one of the leading Russian conductors, he is famous among enthusiasts for his dynamic conducting style, promising not only auditory pleasure but also a visual delight.
The soloist will be Dongmin Lim, a Chopin specialist who already has many fans. He is expected to delicately recreate Chopin’s passionate spirit burning in the cold winter through his performance.
Tickets for the performance can be reserved on the Nowon Cultural Foundation website (www.nowonart.kr).
This year, the Nowon Culture and Arts Center will be filled with high-quality performances. Confirmed and in preparation are ‘Lee Soon-jae & Jung Yeon-sook’s "I Love You"’, ‘Soprano Sumi Jo Concert’, and ‘Opera Stories with Commentary by Geum Nan-sae’.
District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “Nowon has excellent performance venues, creating an environment where families and friends can enjoy culture and arts without going far,” adding, “We will continue to strive to present good cultural performances to satisfy the cultural needs of residents this year as well.”
