Busan City Announces Open Recruitment for the 5th Green Environment Guardians
Co-Governance in Environment and Green Spaces through Citizen Participation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Busan City announced on the 10th that it is publicly recruiting the '5th Green Environment Guardians.'
The 'Green Environment Guardians' are environmental monitoring agents who detect and report early signs of damage, pollution, and poor management in the environment and green spaces. Since December 2011, Busan City has operated the Green Environment Guardians system and has handled a total of over 1,200 reports to date.
The selection criteria require applicants to be residents of Busan aged 18 or older, active, and capable of sound judgment. Any citizen with voluntary interest, passion, and rich experience in the environment and green space fields can apply.
Applications can be submitted via the city’s website, mail, fax, or in person. The selection process involves a Guardians Selection Committee reviewing recommendations from autonomous districts/counties and environmental organizations, as well as direct applicants, to select a final group of 50 members.
Once selected as a Green Environment Guardian, members will begin activities after completing a prescribed training, including reporting guidelines, starting with an inauguration ceremony next month. Annual performance evaluations of reports will be conducted, with outstanding participants receiving mayoral commendations and mileage points awarded based on the number of reports (100 points once per day, up to 50,000 points annually).
