[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) will open a Seol holiday market.
Guro-gu announced on the 10th that it will hold the "Seol Holiday Guro Hanmadang Market" for two days on the 16th and 17th to provide local residents with excellent local specialties at affordable prices and to offer farmers opportunities to expand their sales channels in celebration of the national holiday, Seol.
The market, held at the district office square, will feature 52 farms and businesses from 26 local governments, including sister cities. Through direct transactions, about 100 types of products such as fruits, Korean beef, salted seafood, Korean traditional sweets, ancestral rites supplies, gift sets, rice, and grains will be sold at prices lower than market prices.
The Hanmadang Market will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a food market selling rice cake soup, buckwheat pancakes, vegetable pancakes, fish cakes, and more will also be set up.
Five traditional markets?Namguro Market, Guro Market, Garibong Market, Gocheok Alley Shopping District, and Gocheok Neighborhood Market?will hold various events. From the 14th to the 23rd, they will run discount events on ancestral rites supplies, and each market will host Seol holiday events such as singing and talent contests, prize drawings, rice cake pounding, and traditional games.
On the 21st, Guro-gu will also hold the "Market Dalgumi Event" to revitalize traditional markets. Mayor Lee Seong will personally participate in the event, engaging in activities such as purchasing goods, encouraging merchants, and promoting traditional markets together with district office staff and consumer guardian volunteers.
