Completion of Yangcheon Library, Operation of Care SOS Center, Joint Housing Quality Inspection Team Included in '2020 Smart Yangcheon Life'... Available on District Office Website
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) has produced ‘New Year’s Changing Systems, 2020 Wise Yangcheon Life,’ a collection of major new or changed policies and systems for this year.
The district produces and shares an annual booklet called ‘New Year’s Changing Systems’ to inform residents about useful information such as major policies and systems closely related to residents’ lives, laws and procedures, and facility openings. This year, it is composed of a total of 81 projects across eight fields including education, welfare, and safety.
In the education sector, the ‘Yangcheon Central Library,’ which will satisfy the reading and cultural needs of residents in Sinjeong and Sinwol areas, is scheduled to be completed in the second half of this year. It will be the largest public library in Yangcheon-gu and will be developed as a complex cultural space, allowing residents to use upgraded library services.
In the welfare sector, the ‘Care SOS Center,’ which provides customized welfare services, will begin full operation from July. In cases where care is needed due to sudden illness or accidents, or when daily assistance such as hospital visit accompaniment or meal support is required, the center will offer one-stop services from support to follow-up management.
Welfare facility use for people with disabilities living in Sinwol-dong will also become more convenient. The ‘Sinwol Nuri Welfare Center,’ remodeled from the old Sinwol Senior Welfare Center building, is equipped with a workshop for physically disabled persons and a day care facility for the disabled, providing rehabilitation treatment and cultural leisure programs.
At the Yangcheon Life Safety Experience Education Center, which is very popular for experiential education, a new ‘Water Safety Survival Swimming Class’ for families will be operated. Residents can learn survival swimming, which combines theory and practice to develop emergency response skills, at the indoor swimming pool of the Residents’ Sports Center.
The ‘Seoul Disaster Experience Center,’ where natural disasters such as heavy rain and typhoons can be experienced through virtual reality, will also open in the first half of this year within the Mokdong Retention Basin. Using VR, vivid experiences such as disaster and emergency situation training will help develop the ability to respond safely.
The ‘Smart City Development Project’ to solve various urban problems in welfare, environment, and transportation fields will continue. To create policies that resonate with residents, a ‘Smart City Resident Idea’ contest will be held this year. Selected excellent ideas will be linked and promoted together with Yangcheon-gu’s demonstration projects.
The ‘Apartment Quality Inspection Team,’ which carefully manages construction and finishing conditions before apartment move-in to reduce disputes and conflicts caused by defects, will also be operated. Yangcheon-gu was the first autonomous district in Seoul to enact related ordinances, and inspections on overall apartment quality will be conducted in the Sinjeong 1-1 district, where move-ins will soon begin.
The Health Healing Culture Center, expected to be a new-concept complex cultural space, is also scheduled for completion in October. Located on the donated land of Sinjeong 1-1 district, this complex cultural space will include a maternal and child health promotion center, meditation and craft rooms, and a toy sharing center, enabling one-stop comprehensive childcare services.
The booklet ‘New Year’s Changing Systems, 2020 Wise Yangcheon Life,’ containing all this information, is available for anyone to view and share on the Yangcheon-gu Office website (www.yangcheon.go.kr) under the Administrative Disclosure menu at the top.
