According to the Fire Department on the 9th, the total number of fire incidents in Changwon City in 2019 was 647, an increase of 73 cases (12.7%) compared to the previous year. Casualties numbered 23 (5 deaths, 18 injuries), up 2 people (9.5%) from the previous year, and property damage amounted to approximately 3.562 billion KRW, an increase of about 413 million KRW (13.1%) compared to the previous year.
By location, non-residential facilities such as industrial and commercial sites accounted for 239 cases (36.9%), followed by residential facilities with 153 cases (23.6%), and vehicles with 101 cases (15.6%). By cause, fires due to carelessness accounted for 249 cases, representing 38.5% of the total. This was followed by electrical causes with 215 cases (33.2%) and mechanical causes with 54 cases (8.3%).
