With the Ministry of Justice's prosecution personnel reshuffle imminent, controversy has arisen amid concerns about the possibility of 'bypassing the Prosecutor General.' The Ministry of Justice appears to have conveyed this information to indicate that the schedule is proceeding according to procedure. The Prosecutors' Office Act stipulates that the Minister of Justice must hear the opinions of the Prosecutor General when making prosecution personnel appointments.
Furthermore, through the expression 'immediately after arriving at work,' it was clarified that contact was made with Prosecutor General Yoon before the Prosecution Personnel Committee meeting held at 11 a.m. that day. Minister Choo and Prosecutor General Yoon had a courtesy meeting at the Ministry of Justice on the afternoon of the 7th. It was reported that they talked for about 35 minutes, but both the Ministry of Justice and the prosecution explained that they did not discuss prosecution personnel matters.
Meanwhile, the Prosecution Personnel Committee meeting held at the Ministry of Justice that day ended around 2 p.m. Minister Choo is expected to meet with Prosecutor General Yoon as soon as their schedules are coordinated to exchange opinions on the personnel proposals before recommending appointments to the Blue House.
