Gijang-gun, an Advanced Local Government in 'Cadastral and Urban Planning Maps'
Completion of Cadastral Maps and Regional·District Map Project Maintenance
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Yoseop] Gijang-gun announced on the 8th that it successfully completed the ‘Comprehensive Real Estate Registry System Continuous Cadastral and Regional/District Quality Improvement Project,’ which was promoted together with the Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation Busan·Ulsan Headquarters, on the 30th of last month.
From 2016 to 2018, the county used its own budget of 306 million KRW over three years to correct various errors on cadastral (forest land) maps by utilizing detailed survey original maps, closed cadastral maps, aerial photographs, and survey data.
Last year, with an expenditure of 273 million KRW, the county has been promoting the ‘Comprehensive Real Estate Registry System Continuous Cadastral and Regional/District Quality Improvement Project,’ which involves correcting maps on land use plan confirmation documents (such as urban planning) based on the completed cadastral maps.
Currently, cadastral maps are based on paper maps created during the Japanese colonial period in 1910, and there were many problems such as institutional limitations at the time of creation, gaps and overlaps between scales, map sheets, and administrative districts, and errors between parcels caused during the digitization process of paper maps. The discrepancies between cadastral maps and urban planning maps have acted as obstacles to the promotion of various projects that require surveying.
